ZENITH GRADING - CHASE THE CROWN™ CARD INSURANCE SERVICES
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Zenith Grading is a company founded by collectors, so we understand that your collection is often more of an emotional investment than a financial one and that each collection is worth far more to its owner than money alone. As experts in collectibles insurance, we offer more than just protecting valued collections—but the kind of peace of mind that standard homeowners insurance simply cannot provide. Here’s just a few reasons why you should chose Zenith to insure your valuable collectibles:
1. Comprehensive Coverage
2. Quick and Easy
3. Affordable Rates
4. Proven and Trusted
5. Less Paperwork, More Protection

Our company was started by card collectors so it’s only natural that we would pay attention to your interests and needs. Our customer service is always geared to the collector’s point of view, and we ensure the highest quality experience when working with Zenith.

As experienced specialists in card collectibles, our adjusters understand their value and importance to you. That’s why, should you have a claim, they make every effort to make sure it is settled as quickly, fairly, and smoothly as possible.

Here at Zenith, we offer “Automatic Monthly Increase” as an additional and optional coverage to be added to your policy for new acquisitions and the appreciation of your existing card collection. Selecting this coverage will apply an automatic monthly increase of 1% in coverage, up to a maximum of $1 million.

Absolutely. Typically, you will pay less with us then it would cost to schedule the same items under a homeowners policy.

Deductibles start at $0 for collector policies. We provide coverage for the market value of your card collection for losses in excess of $50. All dealer policies have a $200 deductible.

Yes! If you want to protect your dealer inventory and your clients’ collections, for which you are responsible, we also offer special Dealers Insurance. Please send us an email or give us a call to learn more about our coverage specific for dealers.

Like most collectors, we’re specialists. Providing collectible insurance for trading cards and sports cards is all we do. So we’re able to passionately focus on servicing the needs of card collectors like you.

The following are excluded from our coverage: Government seizure or destruction of property; war and nuclear hazards; gradual deterioration such as fading, creasing or denting; nesting, infestation or discharge or release of waste products or secretions by insects, rodents or other animals; dampness or dryness of atmosphere; changes in or extremes of temperature other than fire; fraudulent, dishonest or criminal acts; voluntary parting with covered property; loss or damage while being worked on by you or others working on your behalf; and mysterious disappearance. This is not a complete list of exclusions and exclusions can vary by policy.

Zenith Grading Insurance Services was created by a group of trading card collectors who found that ordinary homeowners insurance simply couldn’t provide the coverage their card collections required. For everyday, easily replaced personal property, homeowners insurance is all most people need. But for prized possessions you may have spent a lifetime collecting, it doesn’t go nearly far enough. That’s why we offer a collection of benefits that less specialized insurance doesn’t often provide. For example:

  • Homeowners coverage is typically based on the actual cash value of your collection—not its current market value.
  • Homeowners can limit coverage of all the contents in your home to a percentage of your home’s total value (usually between 50% and 70%).
  • It may not cover losses caused by floods, hurricanes, or earthquakes.
  • Homeowners may have limited or no coverage for valuables like trading cards, memorabilia, sports cards, and other collectible items.
  • You may be required to appraise and schedule all items individually. And new items must be reported and scheduled within 30 to 90 days of acquisition.

To determine your value, we recommend you start by referencing Zenith Grading’s Photograde Online to obtain a general, visual illustration of each card grade; this may help you gauge the quality of your card. Based on this assessment, we then advise you to reference various pricing sources to determine the estimated value of your item. We also recommend you refer to a wide variety of trade publications, auction prices realized and/or even contact a dealer in your area (Dealer Directory) for additional assistance.

It is important that you spend the time, utilize the available resources, and take the necessary steps to accurately estimate the Declared Value. The Declared Value you provide establishes:

  1. the maximum item value in the event of a claim connected with that item while at Zenith Grading,
  2. the maximum item value for shipping insurance purposes, and
  3. the appropriate Service Level and Service Level price.

Once you arrive at a Declared Value, please refer to the submission form or Pricing for Zenith Grading Services to determine the Service Level for which your item is eligible, based on your Declared Value. The price listed will be what you will pay per item.

Note that if you desire a faster turnaround time on your order, you may select a Service Level above the Declared Value for your item.
